INTEL BRIEF
🟧 Jack Dorsey's new offline messaging app Bitchat has launched on the App Store, using Bluetooth mesh networks to send encrypted messages without internet, accounts, or personal data.
🟧 The SEC has approved in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto ETPs, allowing investors to exchange shares directly for underlying crypto assets instead of cash, making the process more efficient and cost-effective.
🟧 Rakbank becomes the UAE's first traditional bank to offer retail crypto trading directly through its mobile app, powered by Bitpanda and fully regulated in UAE dirhams.
🟧 OpenAI has launched Study Mode in ChatGPT, which encourages critical thinking by asking students questions and sometimes refusing direct answers, though students can easily switch back to regular mode.
Jack Dorsey Launches Offline Messaging App That Ditches Internet

Jack Dorsey is back at it again, and this time he's literally taking us back to the stone age of communication! The former Twitter CEO just dropped Bitchat on the App Store, and honestly, it's giving me serious "post-apocalyptic survivor" vibes.
NEW: Jack Dorsey says he spent the weekend building “Bitchat” - a new Bluetooth-based messaging app that works without Wi-Fi or cell service.
Messages relay through nearby peers, extending range up to 300 meters. The app claims to be end-to-end encrypted.

Bitchat doesn't need internet. Nope, zero. Zilch. Nada. The app runs entirely on Bluetooth mesh networks, which basically means your phone becomes a tiny digital messenger pigeon, hopping messages from device to device until they reach their destination.
No phone numbers, no email, no account setup - just open the app and start chatting like some kind of digital anarchist. It's completely anonymous, with messages that are encrypted and auto-delete after a short period.

No, not Elon.
Jack Dorsey built one that works without internet.
No SIM. No Wi-Fi. Just Bluetooth.

The decentralized approach means your data stays purely local - no cloud storage, no backups, no corporate overlords peeking at your conversations. It's believed to be a direct response to growing privacy concerns, and honestly, Dorsey might be onto something here. In a world where every app wants your firstborn's social security number, Bitchat is refreshingly... primitive?
Bitchat uses Bluetooth mesh networks - no internet or accounts required
Messages are encrypted, anonymous, and auto-delete with zero cloud storage
Available now on App Store for those ready to embrace their inner digital survivalist
SEC Approves Crypto ETP In Kind Redemptions Finally

SEC Chair Paul Atkins just pulled off what might be the biggest crypto flex of 2025 so far. The securities regulator has officially approved in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto ETPs.
Well, instead of getting boring old cash when you redeem your crypto ETP shares, you can now get the actual Bitcoin or Ether - you know, the good stuff!

"It's a new day at the SEC," Atkins declared, probably while doing a little victory dance behind his desk. The new rules are speculated to make crypto ETPs "less costly and more efficient," which is Wall Street speak for "we're finally admitting this makes way more sense."
When authorized participants (the fancy middlemen) want to create or redeem ETP shares, they can now swap them directly for the underlying crypto assets. No more awkward cash conversions that make everyone's accountants cry. Jamie Selway from the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets called it a move that provides "flexibility and cost savings.”

This comes after the SEC initially approved spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in 2024 but was being a bit stingy about the in-kind mechanism. The Trump administration's pro-crypto stance and recent Congressional crypto bills have clearly shifted the regulatory mood from "absolutely not" to "fine, whatever, here's your Bitcoin ETF upgrade."
In-kind redemptions now approved - get actual crypto instead of cash when redeeming ETP shares
More efficient and cost-effective for issuers, participants, and investors
Reflects broader pro-crypto policy shift under Trump administration and new SEC leadership
Rakbank Becomes First UAE Bank Offering Retail Crypto Trading

Rakbank (aka The National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah) just made history by becoming the first conventional bank in the UAE to offer retail crypto trading, and honestly, they're making every other traditional bank look like they're still using flip phones.
🇦🇪 NEW: RAKBANK becomes the first UAE bank to offer crypto.
Retail users can now trade $BTC, $ETH, $SOL, and $XRP directly in AED.

Customers can now buy, sell, and swap cryptocurrencies directly from their UAE dirham accounts through the bank's mobile app. No more sketchy exchange transfers, no more currency conversion headaches, and definitely no more explaining to your spouse why there's a mysterious charge from "CryptoMoonLambo Exchange" on your statement.
Raheel Ahmed, Rakbank's Group CEO, is clearly feeling himself right now, saying customers deserve "a more efficient and seamless crypto buying, selling and swapping journey that is fully regulated."
The magic happens through a partnership with Austria-based Bitpanda, with all transactions handled by Bitpanda Broker MENA DMCC - a VARA-regulated entity in Dubai.

The service is currently invitation-only, but a broader rollout is expected soon. Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad from Bitpanda called it "a big moment for digital assets in the region," which is executive speak for "we're about to make bank... literally."
This move is believed to be part of the UAE's master plan to become the blockchain capital of the world, with Dubai's free zones already attracting over 600 crypto companies.
First UAE traditional bank to offer retail crypto trading through mobile banking app
Powered by Bitpanda with full VARA regulation and direct AED transactions
Currently invitation-only with broader rollout expected as UAE pushes crypto adoption
OpenAI Study Mode Makes ChatGPT Your Annoying Teacher

OpenAI just pulled the ultimate parental move and turned ChatGPT into that teacher we all secretly loved but openly complained about - you know, the one who responds to "What's the answer?" with "What do YOU think the answer is?"
Study Mode is now rolling out to Free, Plus, Pro, and Team users, and it's basically ChatGPT's attempt at being a responsible adult. The AI will now ask students questions to test their understanding and sometimes flat-out refuse to give direct answers until kids actually engage with the material.
As ChatGPT becomes a go-to tool for students, we’re committed to ensuring it fosters deeper understanding and learning.
Introducing study mode in ChatGPT — a learning experience that helps you work through problems step-by-step instead of just getting an answer.

This move comes after research showed that while ChatGPT can be a helpful tutor, it might also be turning our brains into digital mush. A June study found that people using ChatGPT to write essays showed lower brain activity compared to those using Google Search or their actual brains.
Leah Belsky, OpenAI's VP of Education, admitted the obvious flaw in this plan: students can just switch back to regular mode whenever they want actual answers. There are no parental or administrative controls to lock kids into Study Mode, which means it relies on students actually wanting to learn.

The feature is believed to be OpenAI's response to the 2022 educator panic when ChatGPT first launched and schools went into full lockdown mode. Now that the dust has settled and everyone's accepted that AI is here to stay.
Study Mode asks questions back and sometimes refuses direct answers to encourage critical thinking
Students can easily switch to regular mode - no parental/admin controls available yet
Responds to concerns about AI potentially reducing students' brain activity and critical thinking skills
