Jack Dorsey's Weekend Project Could Kill Your Data Plan

Jack Dorsey decided to casually revolutionize messaging by creating an app that doesn't need the internet. Because apparently, being the co-founder of Twitter wasn't enough chaos for one lifetime!
Meet Bitchat – Dorsey's latest brainchild that's basically WhatsApp's rebellious cousin who dropped out of college to start a underground mesh network. This isn't just another messaging app; it's a completely decentralized, internet-free communication system that runs entirely on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networks.

Bitchat architecture overview. Source: Github
The concept is beautifully simple yet brilliantly complex: your phone becomes both a messenger and a relay station, creating a self-organizing mesh network where messages hop from device to device. With a 30-meter Bluetooth range, messages can bounce between devices to reach distant peers – think of it as human-powered internet infrastructure.
Bitchat is speculated to be completely private and ephemeral. No central servers, no registration with email addresses or phone numbers, and messages exist only in device memory by default. It's basically the anti-Meta approach to messaging, giving a giant middle finger to data harvesting corporations.

The system allegedly uses end-to-end encryption for all message types, whether they're private DMs, room-based chats, or broadcast messages. Large messages get fragmented into 500-byte chunks because apparently, even revolutionary technology has to deal with Bluetooth's bandwidth limitations.
Dorsey believes this could be game-changing for conferences, protests, disaster areas, or literally anywhere the internet is unreliable or untrusted. The white paper suggests that future plans include WiFi integration for increased bandwidth, because why stop at just Bluetooth when you can dominate all wireless protocols?

The system operates without internet, central servers, or registration requirements while maintaining end-to-end encryption
Messages hop between devices within 30-meter range, perfect for scenarios where internet is unavailable or untrusted
Elon vs Trump The Ultimate Billionaire Breakup Gets Political

Trump-Musk bromance just went from "it's complicated" to "restraining order territory"! The world's most expensive friendship has officially imploded, and now we're getting a front-row seat to what happens when two massive egos collide in the political arena.
Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to absolutely roast his former cost-cutting czar, calling Elon Musk "completely off the rails" and essentially a "TRAIN WRECK" after Musk announced the formation of his shiny new "America Party." Because apparently, when you're the world's richest man, starting your own political party is just another Tuesday project!
By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!
When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.
Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.

The drama allegedly started brewing over Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" – a massive spending package that Musk called a "disgusting abomination" because it's speculated to add $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. Musk, who was supposedly trying to cut government spending through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), felt betrayed when Congress passed the bill despite his objections.
Musk isn't just whining on X – he's reportedly planning to "laser-focus" on winning just 2-3 Senate seats and 8-10 House districts in the 2026 midterms. With razor-thin legislative margins, that could be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws.
Trump's faithful are allegedly panicking because third parties have historically been about as successful as a chocolate teapot in American politics. However, Musk has the financial firepower to potentially influence elections if he follows through. Some political observers believe high-profile Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Thomas Massie could defect to Musk's new party, which would be the political equivalent of a reality TV show finale.
"A TRAIN WRECK:" President Trump criticized his former ally, Elon Musk, for launching a third political party, calling it "ridiculous" and saying the tech billionaire has gone "off the rails."

Multiple fake political parties referencing the America Party were filed with the Federal Election Commission after Musk's announcement, proving that even fake political parties are easier to start than getting verified on X these days!

TON's Golden Visa Dreams Get Officially Rekt by UAE Regulators

TON cryptocurrency just experienced the digital equivalent of getting your hopes up for a date only to be ghosted – except this time, it was the UAE government doing the ghosting!
The drama unfolded when The Open Network allegedly claimed that staking $100,000 worth of TON for three years (plus a casual $35,000 processing fee) would magically grant applicants a 10-year UAE golden visa. The announcement was so juicy that even Telegram CEO Pavel Durov couldn't resist reposting it, sending TON rocketing up 10% to $3.03 on Sunday.
🚨 SCAM ALERT or HONEST MISTAKE? 😳
$TON promised a 10-Year UAE Golden Visa if you stake $100K…
Now the UAE government says 👉 “It’s fake!” 😱

The Emirates News Agency came in hot with a joint statement from multiple UAE regulators essentially saying "Nope, not happening, chief!" The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, along with the Securities and Commodities Authority and Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, collectively threw cold water on TON's golden visa dreams.
Golden visas are not issued to digital asset holders and that digital currency investments are governed by completely separate regulations. They even threw in a friendly reminder for investors to "obtain information from credible, official sources to avoid misinformation or fraud" – which is basically government-speak for "do your own research, people!"
Major lesson in due diligence as @ton_blockchain's immigration claims get officially debunked. The 6% price drop serves as expensive reminder about verifying big announcements.

TON tumbled 6% from its 24-hour high, now trading at $2.84 as reality set in.
UAE's golden visa program is actually quite exclusive, requiring applicants to have special skills, public investments worth $544,000+, or own tech-based startups recognized by UAE authorities. Apparently, "hodling crypto" didn't make the cut for special skills – who would've thought?
Even Binance's former CEO CZ questioned the legitimacy of the claim, posting "Is this real?" which should have been everyone's first red flag. When the crypto world's most prominent figures are asking if something is real, it's probably time to pump the brakes!

Vitalik's Gas Cap Proposal Puts Ethereum on a Blockchain Diet

Vitalik Buterin is back with another "let's make Ethereum better" proposal, and this time he's putting the network on a gas diet! The Ethereum co-founder, along with researcher Toni Wahrstätter, just dropped EIP-7983, which is basically the blockchain equivalent of saying "no, you can't order the entire menu in one transaction."
⚡️ TODAY: Vitalik and Wahrstätter co-authored EIP-7983 to cap Ethereum transaction gas at 16.77M.
It aims to reduce DoS risk, improve zkVM, and balance gas use.

The proposal suggests capping individual transaction gas usage at 16.77 million (that's 2^24 for you math nerds), which might sound arbitrary but is allegedly carefully calculated to balance complexity and performance. Think of it as Ethereum's portion control system – because apparently, even blockchains need to watch their consumption habit
Currently, under Ethereum's architecture, a single transaction can theoretically gobble up an entire block's gas limit. This creates a risk of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks and leads to unpredictable network behavior that makes developers pull their hair out.
By implementing this gas cap, EIP-7983 aims to distribute gas consumption more evenly across transactions, reducing the chance of single transactions overwhelming block capacity.
The proposal is also speculated to boost compatibility with zero-knowledge virtual machines (zkVMs) by encouraging large transactions to be split into smaller, more manageable chunks. Transactions that try to exceed the 16.77 million limit would be rejected during block validation, ensuring they can't sneak into the network.
Buterin and Wahrstätter chose this specific cap because it allegedly accommodates current advanced DeFi use cases and contract deployments without introducing unnecessary risks. The authors noted that most existing transactions fall well below this cap anyway, so the impact on users and developers should be minimal.

This proposal builds on Buterin's broader vision of simplifying Ethereum's base protocol. Back in May, he called for making Ethereum leaner and more efficient, inspired by Bitcoin's minimalist approach. It's part of his ongoing crusade to prevent Ethereum from becoming the digital equivalent of a Swiss Army knife with too many attachments – useful but unnecessarily complex!
